Giving Back To Your Patients

Running a medical practice has changed considerably over the years, and it will continue to change.

This means figuring out what separates your medical practice from all the others. Determining the morals and values you want representing your medical practice is a good place to start, and interacting on a trust system with your patients is another.

One way to build trust immediately is by branding yourself. Make your brand shine through everything you do from your marketing to how your employees answer the phones.

The more people locally who know and trust you, the more likely it is that they’ll recommend you to their family and friends. Referrals are always the best way to receive new business.

You have a lot to offer your local community. Start giving back to them and you’ll find it’s a great way to build up a reputation for your medical practice.

Encouraging Families To Have Meaningful Conversations

The Australian Medical Association is encouraging GPs to become more involved with promoting Advance Care Planning with their patients.

They have stated that “Australians need to plan ahead for their end of life care and discuss it with their loved ones and health professionals. Doctors, particularly general practitioners, play an important role in helping patients plan ahead through a process known as advance care planning. Advance care planning should become a part of routine clinical practice, and plans should be regularly revisited to ensure they continue to reflect a person’s values and care preferences.”

To assist families with initiating a discussion about the possible decisions to be made in the later stages of life, we have created our 50 Conversation Starter Cards called ‘Your Life Wishes’. They are easy to use, & come with a companion journal ‘Memo of Wishes’ to record answers.

Benefits For Your Medical or Health Clinic

The benefits are a win-win for both your practice and your patients.

What most people need is a reason or a little bit of encouragement, and the Conversation Starter Cards are the perfect ice-breaker for families to kick-start these difficult conversations. They also provide a good alternative solution for ‘time poor’ GPs to be proactive in discussing end of life plans with their patients. Practice Managers can establish an organisational process as well as providing clinical expertise in having these conversations, either directly or mentoring other staff.

The cards and journal will most likely end up at home on the coffee tables of your patients, as a ‘curiosity’ conversation starter in their own right, when their family & friends drop by for a visit. They become a very cost effective, long-term marketing tool for your business, raising your profile in your local community. And as part of our custom branding, we can create a card to highlight important aspects of your services.
